ABOUT True Compass Strategies

Jason Rae, Founder & Managing Director

Jason Rae is the founder and managing director of True Compass Strategies. He is a seasoned public affairs professional who specializes in media relations, non-profit management, and local, state, and federal campaigns. In addition to his role at True Compass Strategies, he founded and currently serves as President & CEO for the Wisconsin LGBT Chamber of Commerce.

Since 2008, Jason has also worked at Nation Consulting, a Milwaukee-based public affairs firm, where he has worked with hundreds of clients. Previously, Rae had served as a public policy intern with People For the American Way and as a political intern with the Gay & Lesbian Victory Fund. He has also worked for Herb Kohl for US Senate, among other campaigns.

In addition to his professional experiences, Jason has been a member of the Democratic National Committee since 2004, when he became the youngest person ever elected to the DNC. In 2017, he was elected as the DNC Secretary, one of the national officers of the party. He was re-elected to that position in 2021.

Jason has also served as Chair of the Board of Directors of Fair Wisconsin and for the Milwaukee County Human Rights Commission. He currently serves on the Board of VISIT Milwaukee and the Southeast Wisconsin Professional Baseball Park District.

Jason graduated from Marquette University with an Honors Bachelor’s of Arts in Political Science and History. He currently lives the Glendale, WI with his husband, Phillip Bailey, and their dog, George Washington.
